What is DVS?
The Descriptive Video Service provides additional audio information on regular videos in order to enhance the enjoyment of movies, documentaries, and tapes of television shows by persons whose vision is impaired. It has been described as "closed captioning for the blind." The Friends provided initial startup and ongoing support funds for the library's DVS service. DVS service is open to patrons of the NC Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, who pay a one-time twenty dollar membership fee. Fees collected help offset the expense of maintaining a large video library. For further information about DVS, click here for Media Access/DVS
